How to Use the Dyna Face Cage
Exploring how to properly apply the Dyna Face Cage to Dyna, Viper, or Rival headgear.
This particular face cage involves separate pieces of velcro that use adhere to the side of the helmet. This process can be a little tricky, so the right way is shown, as well as alternatives that do not utilize the extra velcro pieces.

more visibility than the plastic shield
Some of the other students and one teacher in my class have this cage and recommended it. I have the Macho Dyna helmet and it fits great. I definitely find I have more visibility. I felt like the plastic shield I was previously using had blind/blurry spots. I'm still getting used to the extra weight of the cage and the depth perception is a bit different than with a plastic one. I do wish I would have purchased this earlier in my training. I would definitely recommend this cage to others.

Dyna Cage -- My experience
I bought the Dyna Cage after I got hook-kicked in the face at a regional tournament, receiving a blow-out fracture to the eye socket, complete with concussion, dizziness, and nausea. Considering I am a practitioner of Tang Soo Do (10 years-- Sam Dan) and our tournaments are non-contact, point sparring, it was the single worst injury I've ever received and it rattled me considerably. After recovery, I bought this cage, and bought the L/XL to fit over my large helmet. It fits well over my Warrior helmet by Macho (although it fits snug at the jaw if strapped to the bottom holes instead of using the velcro strips), but it adds some weight to the helmet... not a lot, but it's noticeable. I sparred with it for the first time earlier this month, and was impressed. Good visibility (although you have to adjust the cage a bit for best effect) and sturdy construction. Don't have to worry about fogging it up like some plastic shields. I have not used it competitively yet, but already it's given me much needed confidence after this accident. Don't be surprised if you feel a little intimidating to others when wearing it, though. Sort of like wearing a hockey mask in the dojang. My students think it looks cool and want one. More than that, however, I doubt I'll ever have to worry about my face blocking a punch or kick ever again. Would definitely recommend.
