Extra Little Bit of Protection

Don't buy a cheap plastic mouth guard. They don't stay in your mouth when you get hit.
This mouthguard molds extremely well, it sticks to my upper teeth when I open my mouth, I need to pull on it to get it off. That's the way it should be, otherwise when you get hit, it will go flying, leaving you with no protection for the next hit. It's also easy to mold.
I can say the same about my previous mouthguard, the Gel Max, also by Shock Doctor. I like the powergel DNA better because it has a little piece of plastic that extends down over the front teeth. I feel like that provides protection from strikes to the mouth for my lower front teeth.

Get a double mouth guard if you really want to protect your teeth. The singles are more to protect from concussions.

awesome mouth guard

The key to this product is the harder outer shell with the "gel" insert.
The gel molds to your teeth and the hard shell keeps it all together and provides the real impact protection. The impact force is distributed by the shell over a greater area so you are less likely to end up with single loose or cracked teeth. I found this design to be very comfortable. The mouth guard "snaps" on to your teeth and it locks your lower jaw in place as well. It all feels very secure. Of course the real test is a hammer kick to the face, but I'm not really eager to try that out any time soon.

Great mouthpiece! The slimest one you can buy without paying an arm & a leg for. Its easy to fit, just follow the directions and you'll have a mouthpiece that wont only protect your grill but it'll actually allow you to breath easier and articulate your words better than you're used to without taking it out your mouth. Great value!

easy to fit in the mouth. some people have mouthguards that sometimes hang out but this one stays in place. really good mouthguard to have until i eventually needed to get a mouthguard from my dentist due to braces

This is the best mouth guard I've ever used. To be honest, I never really liked the feel of a mouth guard because it always made me want to gag and made it harder to breath. A bunch of the guys at my gym told me to try to this one, and I am really glad I did. The molding is easy and actually works, and it's got a really nice fit. I've gotten other mouth guards where you have to try to mold it to your teeth several times and it never fits quite right. Also, with this one it's definitely easy to breathe. But best of all, it's effective, and you can really take some inadvertent hits to the face without messing up your jaw.

Another really cool feature is the one-year warranty against defects. Basically, if you are wearing your mouth guard during a tournament or coach-supervised training session and lose a tooth anyway, they'll actually pay for your dental care. I don't expect to lose a tooth doing jiu jitsu, but it's nice to know that they stand behind their product.

I have been using this for about eight classes now. It makes it a little harder to breath and I don't like wearing it, but It does its job. I accidentally got kneed in the face a week ago and everything was fine. the guard absorbed the impact and all my teeth were unharmed. I give it a three because it works but isnt comfrtable.

I'm not sure if this mouth guard can really help prevent knock-outs b/c I couldn't keep it on long enough to find out. It doesn't give you any coverage for the lower teeth (which are just as important as the top teeth) the hard outer layer is supposed to give you more protection, but it seems to me it just makes it more uncomfortable, it doesn't let the guard form to your mouth.
