Hi Bob. It's important to check the specific laws of your state, but in general carrying the ninja spike is considered legal. It is not bladed and thus is not considered a knife object.
Avoid carrying it through airports, however.

Good for the price
I purchased this item because my father has had one on his keychain as long as I can remember, but I was somewhat disappointed when I received it.
This keychain is made out of aluminium or some other lightweight metal and weighs a fraction of what my fathers weighs. It's light weight and flimsy construction does not inspire confidence as I feel that the spikes might be broken off just removing the keychain from my pocket.
That being said the mere sight of this keychain is an excellent deterrent for would-be attackers and at this price I feel my money was not wasted.

I wouldn't want to venture an opinion on that and lead you astray. I recommend contacting the TSA directly and finding out for certain.

Is the Silver one have shaper ends then the black one? They appear that way in the pictures.

The construction is essentially the same. You'll get the same sharpness with either color selection.

I like the keychain but one of the spikes broke when I took it out of the wrapper; I guess it was a defect on that particular keychain. I'm still gonna buy more because I think their cool

I currently hold a purple belt in Japanese Kempo MMA am now testing for my brown belt. This is an interesting talk piece an introduced to me by another brown belt 2 stripe. It is a key chain until used as a weapon! So dont let law inforcement intimidate you into thinking it is wrong to carry!!

I bought this item in 2003- I got the black one. I was a green belt in Hapkido.
Every guy at the register counter was impressed and asked me about it.
I went to Mexico in 2004 and on the way back, at the customs, they confiscated it from me. It was a good thing to have but dont take it to another country.
For some reason this morning I remembered about this key chain that I used to have. I am buying another one.
I live in DC now so, maybe just a womans instinct

I bought a black one for a friend I do MMA training with. She does pre-dawn runs for endurance training and was carrying a baseball bat as a deterant. This is much easier to carry! (just be careful you dont trip!) Easier to conceal and harder to take away! Plus it holds her house key too!

Small but mighty, good enough to do the job, small enough to conceal in larger hands, but if seen in smaller hands is good as a deterrent.

Pretty good product
This keychain can be useful in many situations, especially good for a non-trained person. I really recommend this product.

Not a bad deal...
This certainly can do some damage with just one punch. It is solidly constructed and intimidating. The only downside is its a bit big to use as a keychain and I'm not sure how legal it is to actually hit someone with this.

As a law enforcement officer, I can assure you that this particular kubaton is NOT legal. It falls into the category of metallic knuckles, and would certainly get you arrested--although I'm certain that changes from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. But you DO have the right to defend yourself... And you have the right to go to very nasty lengths to do so when you are threatened with possible death or great bodily harm.
As a police officer, I can't condone anyone carrying one of these kubatons. The straight kubatons without the finger spikes are legal to carry. Then again, I'm with anonymous: I own one myself; I think it's a phenomenal impact weapon when I'm off duty... And I would certainly never arrest anyone using one of them in self defense. Just exercise caution, and use it responsibly.

good response Johnny Law,... I just ordered one and was concerned as to when and where to carry it. I suppose going into a rock concert/sporting event or boarding a air plane i should not carry it however these are the times when I would want it most... Does anyone have any experience with this at the airports in the US and or when going threw a normal search for a music or sporting event??
