These really work well for juniors. They are MUCH faster to get on than the sparring boots/shoes. They also really cut down on the shin hits kids commonly get when they both go up to kick at the same time.

Good quality at a good price.
You can't expect any more from an $11 pair of cloth shin/instep guards. Good quality at a good price.

Size
My son is 5'6" and 13 yrs old. I measured from the bottom of his knee to the top of the ankle and it was between 13 and a half and 14", his calves are 13". Which size would be better for him?

size for small 9 year old
I am looking at some of these for my beginner who is finding kicks to the kicking pads painful as her foot tops are boney. I found something like this useful back in my day. She has a calf circumference of just 9", so what size would that correlate with? She is short, just 4'2"
Thanks

Hi Shell. I think the small would be a safe bet for you.

You are right on the cusp between medium and large. Large would be a little easier fitting but might slide on you. Medium would stay in place but might feel tight.

Proper Sizing for Youth Shin Guards
My son is 53 inches tall and quite skinny. His calf is 10 inches in circumference at the the widest part. Is extra small the appropriate size or is that still too big?

The XS would probably be a fine choice. The small would be good too to allow some room for growth, but you do run the risk then of it shifting a bit during sparring.

Circumference
Does anyone know how stretchy these are or the circumference of them? I always have trouble finding knee high boots to fit my calves.

Sorry Danielle we don't have an exact number for that. The blended material is very stretchy, but you might consider ordering a size up from your normal size in order to get a little extra space.

Sizing chart
Is there a seperate chart for sizing children, or should I just go extra small for my 8 and 10 year olds? Thanks!

Hi P. There isn't a separate sizing chart for children, however the chart at the bottom of this page should help out a bit. I would probably recommend the extra small, but that depends on the height of the children.

What Size?
I'm a 5ft 7 female, med build, and it seems according to the size chart I should get an small size guard. I measured about 13 inches from bottom of the knee to the ankle.
Does that sound right?? I have very muscley calves (15" at the widest point)
Thanks

It seems like you are right in the middle between a small and medium. If I were you I might err on the side of medium. If they are just too big, let us know and we'll arrange an exchange.

Great Product
This is the second set I've purchased for my son, he loves them. He trains often and hard. The first set were 5 years old, still in good condition. Even though they are washable, his still started smelling sweaty, even after washing and spraying with a fabric freshener. If he can get another 5-6 years out of these, I'll be more than happy!

Not as much protection as the leather style guards, but lighter and a hell of a lot less expensive.

cant beat the price
I purchased these since it is quicker to put on, and more comfortable to wear. Be careful though. I took an elbow to the ankle where there is a crease from foot to shin. It hurt like heck, and took about 2 weeks to heal. For the price, who cares. They fit great, and I think the light weight makes me faster. I don't trip over myself like I did with the booties.

Cheap and functional
Need to kick people without suffering too much then be able to throw them in the wash when the pads get just a little too funky, all while going extra easy on the wallet? Well guess what, you're in luck!
I've used these and had them used on me in Kyokushin, and while one still feels the impact and a little stinging, it's more than bearable. Even shin on shin clashes aren't too bad with these pads on. They last a surprisingly long time as well, for being so affordable.

Good for the price
Natually for under $10 this isn't going to protect you if you are swinging with everything you have, but for small to medium fighters or moderate contact, this are a great deal.

Sizing
My son is 12 and very small for his age, but when I use the sizing chart given, we should order him an adult medium. Does this seem accurate? I measured from bottom of knee to top of ankle and got 12 inches.

Hi Sarah. you want to subtract about two inches off of the length for your guards, so I would put your son at a size 'adult small'.

for basic shin guards the quality here is pretty high. They are cheap and durable. While not as good as the vionyl dipped stuff; these offer some passable protection for an affordable price. Great for people just starting out.

I think these shin guards work great for the money. They protect the leg against injury from kicking the elbow or someone else's shin. I like them much more then normal karate boots. To be sure there are better shin guards out there, but not for anywhere near the price.

I bought these for my son for Muay Thai. When he kicked his opponents, it would hurt him and the person he was sparring with. The padding was just too thin.

I train in Muay Thai and these work great for me. Also, one should expect some amount of discomfort whenever one practices a contact sport. If you are worried about your son feeling pain, then maybe Muay Thai is not the best activity for him.
