i know it says large, but my buddy weights 180, and he's 5'5 would a large still fit him, or should he get regular?

The XL's might give his leg a little more room, but they will likely be way too long for his shin if he's 5'5".

--- The Larges may be a bit more snug, but will fit his shin much better due to the length.

That will really depend on how hard you beat them dj. They aren't the most durable of all the brands, but in exchange you get a very affordable price.

For higher durability, consider these: pr-sh-40.

What is the opinion for this equipment?

Good for the money

OK, not great. They're good for the money. They protect your shin, and they're not uncomfortable. However, they have a tendency to rotate around my leg, which isn't ideal when using these for partner drills and roundhouse kicks since the shin protrusion is there for a reason.

For those into visual aesthetics, the guards I received do not look like the picture. There's a white outline around the guard, the material is not as shiny, the shin protrusion is more pronounced, and there's an added (prominent) "MMA" in the space where the stars are in the picture.

Durability

I recieved mine 2 weeks ago, started using it for sparring last monday. Tonights Wednesday,the 2nd time I use it and the strap under my foot breaks. I actually bought these because the other top contender mma shin guards i had, same issue, the strap on both feet were coming off. I can fix these by getting them stitched but, I wish these problems showed up after a good amount of time training. not on the 2nd 3rd or 4th training session.

Pretty serious protection... significantly thicker than the MMA/Grappling style shin guards w/the neoprene backing. Def better for stand up.

i am 5'10 and 190 pounds what size should i get ? and im look for more of a stand up kind of shin protectors and not grapling ones , would these still work?

Yes these would work for standup sparring. I think regular size would work fine for you.

Hook and loop question

Are these actuall hook and loop closures or are they the ones with velcro on each side that you have to fasten together which almost never gives a tight secure fit so they won't move???????? Thanks.

It's essentially velcro, but since velcro is a brand name we have to use the more generic 'hook and loop' label.

Would these work for a short person?

I want to buy my sister some shin guards, but I'm not sure if these would fit her as she is only about 5ft tall. She measured from her instep to her knee and that was 13 inches. Would I need to get a smaller size, or would regular work in this case?

Best bang for your buck great for stand up

First I'd like to say that I ordered this product on Dec. 8th as a Christmas gift for my son. Did not receive it till after Christmas. Then, I'm not sure if there is a left and a right but the tags on the inside both say "R". Does that mean that they sent us two right legs? I don't know but what I do know is that I will not be ordering from this company again.

Their sizing criteria is a little off

I am a large man, in the 275 category. They recommended I use/purchase the XL for "over 200 lbs". I can tell you that I should have picked up 1 size down from that because it's a little on the long side, and needs to be shorter for my large legs.

Use with shoes?

As of right now I just get trained in a place without mats, so we use shoes while training. I wanted to know if the bottom strap would be able to fit over shoes or if I should look into another design. Thanks.

Hi Mark. The elastic is pretty accommodating so I think you could get it around your shoe. Unfortunately I can't say for certain as I have not tried this myself.

Hmm, length-wise you are a regular AHamm, though you might find them a little tight. Large would be more suited to your body weight. My recommendation is go with the large, and if it doesn't fit quite right just let us know and we can work out an exchange no problem.

Yes a size large would probably be the best fit for you. A medium would work but the instep covering might feel a little short.

i love this product

My only regret is that I should have gone to a size large. I weigh in at 223. But they are great. Very comfortable . Would highly recommend. Superior product.

Great for the price

I sent these on their maiden voyage about 6 months ago. They're not bad for the price. The straps make it a little tricky to get a snug fit. The padding is sufficent, not too bulky. While they're not Faitex or Windy (I CHERISH my Windy pro-style shins), they do their job while being lighter than some others with a slightly higher pricetag.

Very Durable!

I bought some of these for club use in our MMA and Kickboxing classes.... they are VERY Durable!! We usually go through instep and shin guards pretty fast because of all the use from so many students, but these are holding up GREAT! The padding is just right and they fit comfortable without sliding all round. Very pleased with this product!

If you are stand up training, these guards get a four, easily, but if you're doing any kind of grappling, than these get a three, maybe even a two. I've had a pair of these for about a year now. Is nice and thick and great for the guy getting kicked. The pads also stay in place and dont shift on your legs when you are kicking or blocking, that's a huge plus. after all this time they are still in one piece, that's good too. They are a little bit too stiff and wide for any type of grappling though. The only problem I've had with them is the velcro strap your foot goes in started to tear out from the stitches within a few months of buying them. Had to have the wife re-stitch them. Since then no problems. For the price, they are a lot better than I expected
