I purchased this gi for Aikido training and found that it met my needs very well. The aikidoka in our dojo use a variety of judo gis and karate-style gis and I wanted something that was still thick fabric (to hold up in the knees and lapels), but that wouldn't be as hot as my current judo gi. I've been using heavy-weight judo gis for 5 years and figured that I would try out something a little lighter that had ties on the top so that I wouldn't constantly be disrobing as with the judo gis.

This gi seems to be sturdier than any karate-style gi I've seen and definitely lives up to my hopes. The draw-cord on the pants is nice and slippery and doesn't bind up when sweaty (I've had problems getting the cords loosened on some pants). The ties are highly effective at keeping the top situated as well, letting me loosen my obi a bit and not lose my top. The pants have a nice length and are moderately passable as street cloths if one needs to run an errand without changing. I would definitely recommend this gi for Aikido use.

The only downside with this gi is that for me, the rise on the pants causes them to sit a little too low on my hips. If they had slightly more or less rise they might catch on my hips better. This is mostly something I notice when I first start stretching, after that I'm used to how they fit and it doesn't bother me.  

It some point in their careers many martial artists feel as if their gi isn't quite meaty enough. They want something with a little more pop and substance. This gi is perfect for that sort of thing. The weight provides great snap, but isn't immovably stiff and uncomfortable. The brushed cotton makes it a breeze to wear.
