I got this dogi for my 11-year-old son's aikido practice. (Please note: "gi" by itself is not a Japanese word. It's "dogi.") My son is a little under 5", medium built, and I ordered a size 2, slightly bigger one to grow into. I really like the thick, heavy 100% cotton material, and the patches on the knees. The dogi is made in Pakistan. It is true that the pants are baggy, but there is a drawstring to adjust to your waist size. They don't look great, but OK. As I said, I really like the quality, and I would buy these again in the future for my rapidly growing son.
