I've purchased a total of 2 of these, on separate occasions. The first for myself. No problems with it for several years. Finally, it cracked on a knot towards the center. I was showing how flexible it was and I hit it just right. Now it's a set of tapered escrima sticks. The second I purchased as a gift for my mother. It had a number of large knots in it, thus rendering it unusable for any contact. It was replaced, though it was during Christmas time so it took a couple of weeks. Overall they appear to be decent staffs, capable of taking punishment. The wood is very flexible. I was putting all my weight on it when I cracked mine (~190lbs). I liked the weight of it. Heavier than softwood bos, but lighter than hardwood. It also moved nicely in the hands. It comes with some sort of finish on it, which when it was a bo I never removed. When it became a set of sticks I removed the finish and decided I prefer the raw wood far more. (This is a personal preference for raw wood in general). I do recommend buying from this company. Especially as if you get a lemon, they'll replace it for free.  

My 5 foot cracked on the first strike with another wax bow, I did not read other reviews or I would have sent it back for replacement, I soaked the ends in gas and used It In the dark then threw the rest in the fire pit.  

I now have 2 of these staffs. They both arrived very well packaged and protected for shipment. Neither staffs had any splits - but I haven't put them to hard use yet. The first staff has more knots and more of a shine to the finish while the second doesn't have knots and is more of a bare wood finish.I am very pleased with both and would order again without hesitation. The white wax wood seems to be a "warmer" wood than my red oak staff, and somewhat lighter, and I prefer using it for those reasons.  

Excellent quality. Great for a small person.  

I still have my ancient straight hardwood staff from way back when. When I started training again last year, I noticed how much lighter the tapered staff I was using at the dojo was. Since it was mostly kata, I decided to buy myself a lighter, tapered staff. So far the only gripe I have is that the finish on the one I received is very thin in places. Enough so that the wood grain is easily seen. For practicing kata and tricks, it's great.   

I read the reviews before I purchased this bo and noticed that someone had received a cracked bo on the first try. Strangely enough, that was also my experience, although I opted not to try again. The misshapen area in which the crack was located was instantly visible, and I have to wonder why a merchant would send defective products.  

I ordered this Bo for my son, who is beginning weapons training. The staff arrived in perfect condition. We bought the 5 foot size because of my son's age and size, and it is just right in terms of weight, length, diameter. It also looks cool. It is fun to watch my son use it and lood good doing so. He easily looks more impressive that the smaller kids who use a longer bo, which is just too big for them.  

The first staff was damaged. It was shipped with epoxy filler in the faults of the staff, and a crack along the length about dead center. One light hit on the bag to test it's integrity proved looks were not deceiving. It split along the crack.
I contacted customer service explained the problem(s) and they immediately shipped another one. This staff was a night and day difference from the first. It's integrity is good, no visible faults, and it has withstood two sessions of two-man staff drills. It is fairly well balanced, and overall for the price a good deal.

Would have been nice to get it the first time, however being honorable and making good counts big for me...Thanks for resolving the issue speedily, and for providing a good product !!!!  

This is a very nice BO Staff, have yet sparred with anyone with it just yet but overall this a grate Bo. Customer service was grate, I had a delayed shipment but they handled the situation with no problems. Im very pleased with service that I've got from them.   

When I recieved this bo the first time. It was warped. I called the KD and they sent a new one right away. It got here in four days, which was even faster than the first one. This one isn't warped, but it also has some rough spots, like it wasn't sanded all the way.
I like the color and weight of this bo. All in all, it will do well for my first bo. I don't think I will buy online again though.  

this stick warped within a week or so. Don't buy it!  

Bought this with the red oak staight staff as an experiment. (Read my red oak review for more info). The taper was easier on my connective tissue and muscles to begin, but quickly fell out of favor compared to a straight staff. The taper is more difficult to control. The low inertial mass makes it more useful as a thrusting weapon. As another experiment, a straight waxwood staff was bought elsewhere, same six foot length. (I hope Karate Depot stocks straight waxwood sometime, Depot product quality is superior.) The straight waxwood handling compares favorably to the red oak straight, but the quality is not as good. For my purposes, the straight staff is the one.  

This bo has been taken some serious whacks and shows no signs of wear. The delivery speed was fantastic (2 days for standard shipping). The bos we ordered were slightly warped, but no stick is perfect.   

I got this for a friend whose child needed the 5' length. When the bo arrived, it was VERY thick in diameter and I offered to send it back to get a different bo. You would think that the manufacturer would realize that someone small enough to need a 5' bo would have less than adult size hands, but I guess they don't. It is lightweight, but it is also thick and chunky looking and that makes it awkward in forms. I would recommend a different bo for small adults and children. Maybe the longer ones are okay, but the 5' looks and feels awkward to use.  

I love it. It's great for doing Kata.  

The quality and durability is quite effecient! The handle of this bo serves its purpose, during my kata. The reason a star was taken off is due to cosmetic issues. The bo has smudges on it and that has a few ruff parts, which need sanding. I would recommend this bo for anyone starting out with the bo.  

The shipment was supposed to arrive on the fifteenth; arrived on the tenth. Nicely sanded. No cracks, no bumps. Rather shiny, actually. The ends are tapered similar to the diameter of a nickel. Light, durable. Held up nice, even in the trauma of cheap shipping and handling. Packaged REALLY cold. Haven't had the chance to practice with, except when I spun it, and accidentally hit the ceiling. The shock absorption was nice on my hands. Six foot is the perfect size for an average height male. Five star!  

I am very pleased with the wax wood bo. I wish it was cylindrical, not tapered on the ends, but for my purposes it will do just fine. I don't do Oriental styles, I'm more of an English quarterstaff type because of my limited mobility. This is straight, doesn't look like a de-barked sapling or twisted branch, no obvious defects. Time will tell, but this is one of the best waxwood specimens I've seen.  

I have had this staff for about 2 weeks its been dropped quite a few times and just keeps going. This is my first one so I dont really have any basis for comparison. Just know that it takes drops (drops and more drops), and other random user/environmental abuse very well.  

This bo rocks! The feel, the weight, the look! Simply awesome! Highly recommend!  

This is simply the best bo I have ever owned. The weight is heavy enough for real training, but light enough to use in competitions. Do not hesitate if you are thinking about buying this bo. Excellent customer service.  

I definitely recommend waxwood, very light, strong, just enough flex, and it has a very nice feel in your hand.  

First, I received my order incredibly fast. In class, my white wax bo was admired by the other students and my Sifu. The smooth finish allows me to execute techniques faster and it has made it possible for me to move through my form quickly and smoothly. I can honestly recommend this product.
