Hello Leandro. Sorry to disappoint but we do not have paypal capability yet and we don't have international shipment for Zengu.

Nice sword overall
i puchased one sword about a week ago, took a week to come with the 2.95 shipping, when it came, the package revealed that it weighed 3.0 lbs. so as another person suggested each sword may differ in weight or apperance. anyhow the sword feels like it is a good work out. and its very strong, ive tried making full strength blows into solid rock, and the sword looks fine. i also tried using the sword as a support, and sittin on it, and it didnt break. so i believe that its very durable. close inspection reveals that the finish had 1 or 2 small spots in it both are less than a centimeter, and arent easily noticed.
i gave a four star rating because its not the nicest bokken ive ever seen. certainly not as nice as a japanese oak cosmetically. and the tsuba looks fine, but again, not as nice as others ive seen. but the price is VERY reasonable, and any beginer would find this to be a GREAT deal.

Boku-to
This was the cheapest yet best quality bokken I could find so I bought it, some people were saying something about this being light, it may very well be light but its an average weight for a shinken, about 1020 grams actually a lot of shinsakuto I've handled are lighter then this at around 900 grams or even 800, don't listen to the people talking about this being too light or talk about 3-4 pound swords, that's ridiculous maybe 3 pounds but 4 pounds is the limit, unless its ridiculously too big, noto would be made far more simplified if a sword weighed that much, there would be too much vibration and it would be impossible to keep the sword stable, meaning you would most likely take the saya out of your obi every time you resheath the sword, swordsmanship has very little to do with physical strength and far more to do with control and proper movement of the whole body.
Its nice for the price but I've seen far better bokuto and at a far higher price making this the better buy but maybe not the best quality.

Good all-around practicing sword
I originally purchased a White Oak Bokken (very good quality) so I decided to purchase 3 Red Oak Bokken. These bokken are tremendously priced and will make for good practice swords but would not hold up against a well made bokken because there are small defects in the selection and craftmanship of the swords. Two of them had the grain running diagonally through the blade and one had a small gouge where the handle typically is located. I can sand out and potentially fill the small gouge but the other factors can't be fixed. The weight of these swords seem very similar to a real Katana. Maybe a little (very little) bit heavier. If you are wondering if the quality of the red oak bokken is the same as the white oak bokken... it is not. I own a white oak bokken from Karate Depot and will continue to purchase white oak bokken from Karate Depot.

Workhorse bokken
l needed to replenish my supply of practice swords that I keep on hand for new students.
Happened to find these on sale and am very pleased with the quality, weight, balance and suitability for beginning samurai sword students. Yes, I would recommend.

The grain runs the full length of the bokken for all three that I purchased. I look forward to years of use. This is a great value.

Flawed but Can't go wrong for the price
These appear to be very good looking "factory seconds", which accounts for the price. However, I got a couple and am very pleased with them. One had a couple small dents. The other one has a slanted guard position. How the grip is cut, the back of the guard rests higher than the blade side of the guard. In any case I would describe these as, flawed, but very functional and very "pretty" bokken. Well worth the price, and if you break one, buy another...their cheap!

Red Oak Bokken
Great Bokken, haven't owned many but I can see some great craftsmanship in this product. You'll have to do quite a bit of sanding to get the hand guard on but the closer the fit the better right? I bought 2 of these to practice with a buddy of mine, we haven't actually come in to contact when practicing with them yet, but due to their construction, I am confident that they will hold up.

Duel wielding
I'm 6' 140lbs but tend to have a relatively easy time with even heavier weapons...
The 2 sword order.. How challenging would it be to wield both at once? I mean sais don't weigh much less from what I read so just a thought.

Historically speaking you would utilize one full length blade and one shorter blade if trying to use two at once. The main reason being multiple levels of distance management and the semi unweildy nature of utilizing two full size katana at once.
That being said, it is certainly possible if you wanted to play around with the idea!

Got what I paid for...
My Sensei didn't like the feel of it from the beginning. It didn't make it a half hour into training before it was snapped in two, after only two hits not even going one hundred percent. Rather frustrating...

Excellent Transaction!
We LOVE the product. After our youngest kept on and on about a wooden sword my husband went online and Karate Depot had exactly what we thought our sons would like at an incredibly reasonable price. We received the bokken in really fast time the installation was simple my husband put them together and then we surprised our boys with them, since they didn't even know we ordered them. The quality of the product has been great, and we use these for fun not beating the tar out of one another. We really like the weight and the denseness of these bokken, and all around excellent purchase from an excellent vendor, going forward we will continue to use Karate Depot as our source of martial arts supplies.

Great Sticks!
Cheap, effective, and heavy. Good way to build some strength. The coating wears off pretty quick, but if you're worried about looks then get a more expensive bokken. Regardless, the blade is very symmetrical and well made for the price.

Good for training
I bought 2 of these with the thoughts we'd expand our class to include sword training as I had received my masters cert in swords recently. Well, everyone watching a couple of us doing some very basic sword training with these are amazed and excited at the opportunity that is coming soon in our martial arts class. (Tae Kwon Do, but we are including a lot of Kung Fu, Judo, Akido, and other mixed martial arts...) I'll be buying these in bulk soon as a gift to the class and to the students so that they can learn sword play in our dojang... (free)

Pretty good bokken
The bokken is sturdy and so far has taken plenty of hard hits with only superficial damage to the finish. Note, the one issue I had was the difficulty of putting the hand guard on. The hand guards are not cut to fit very well and required a significant amount of filing the inside hole before it could be forced on.
While that was annoying, it is something I can live with because I'd rather it be too tight than not tight enough.

Yes this would be a good beginner's bokken. It is considered typical for standard weight and length as well as material density. It is also inexpensive which is perfect in case you damage it.

Honestly...
Honestly this is a very good bokken. The picture does it no justice, as it looks a lot cleaner and deeper in the color of the wood. Seems very durable and sturdy. I cannot stop looking at the thing either, it just looks so clean cut. I have to say shipping was quite a pain though since I had to wait about 3 weeks in my case BUT the product definitely does not disappoint.

Help!
Hey, I ordered a pair of bokken on March 24th, it said that they would come by April 2nd. It's now April 7th and the tracking code I was given just tells me that it was shipped. I hope it wasn't lost in shipping or something. I sent an email with my tracking number to you guys but you haven't responded. Is there anyway I can find out where it is or if it hasn't been lost? Thanks in advance.

This bokken does not. We do have two options that DO come with saya (sheath):
wp-ke-21
,
wp-ke-55
.

Nice addition to my gear
I got of the same Bokken and I'm quite impressed with it, overall the weight is nice and I have a good handle of it when I swing it. Perfect for praticing at home, if you want a Bokken for other things these ones may not be it.
there are only 3 things about my Bokken I did not like, 1: not from Japan, 2: the guard does not fit one of them (slides right down the blade and off the handle!) 3: the handle had a chunk of wood taken off the handle but was glued back on.

Does it's job, and cost effective!
This was a great buy, and really helped in my training. It's strong and durable, and the price is great too.

Hello, i have recently ordered two bokken (kd elite) from Karatedepot.com. I have selected the super saver shipping (4.95 in my case). Is there any way I can view the EXACT location of my purchase, or does karate depot provide more information on it?

I can't promise exact location, but you can use the "Track my order" link at the top of this page to get a better sense of where it is.

Great bokken for buck!
I am a student in Aikido and Karate. This bokken is great for practicing techniques and drills. If you are looking for a strong bokken to do kendo or other things that require striking hard objects I would suggest investing in a white oak bokken.

Nice
Ordered Monday and received Thursday. Good quality, excellent balance, quite useable at force. Going to put a post in the yard to save the bark on the trees.

Bokken
My bokken arrived 3 days early. When I first saw the package I remembered other comments and braced myself for something very unsightly. Some people claim white oaks are cosmetically better. When I saw my bokken, I was blown away! It was very cosmetically sound. I personally can't testify to the durability, but other people have "dealt full strength blows into solid rock and the sword still looks fine" Well deserving of a 5 star rating.

better than most bokken
it came in mint condition and holds up great and looks great i clashed it against my other bokken and it held up with no marks or indents same as when i hit it on a tree. there is one minor problem though that you should expect from all finished bokken the finish comes off just a little bit in some places, but it still looks good and works like a champ.

These two woods are fairly close in density, with the oak being a bit more dense. While oak on oak is obviously a better match, I don't think you'll have any problems with oak on white wax.

I just received my bokken today and it blew me away. I am hoping to develop my sword handling skills with this bokken. I received it earlier then i had expected too. I also like the weight and feel of the sword. Karate Depot can expect me to buy more bokkens and other high quality items.

A Pair of Bokken
I received my bokken in very short order and I was very pleased with the speed of delivery and of course the $2.95 shipping. My only negative input is that the swords did not come wrapped or padded inside the box beyond the thin plastic wrap over the swords themselves. There were a couple of minor cosmetic dings on the tips and blades I associated with shipping. Beyond that I am quite happy with these items they are solid, sturdy wood swords and more than functional for my use. I cannot attest to the durability of these as I am not using them for contact sparring but instead for Iado training in environments where a live blade would be dangerous. There are solid in construction and the wood grain is beautiful. The tsuba is a bit cheesey but that is to be expected. All in all a wonderful product. Very affordable and with all items I have purchased from Karate Depot of high quality and an excellent value. I recommend these to any and all who are looking for affordable training swords.

As Far As Im Concerned
wether wooden, or steel. A swords a sword, and this one is no exception. Its smooth, and the grain follows throughout the bokken, I imagine, like a finger print. when you own one of these bokken, which you may, the price is reasonable, plenty of good reviews, and you can trust that it will reach you; appreciate it. because you use it right, its a once in a lifetime experience. love your sword. its not a plaything, and it never was

The use of bokken
Matthew from Karate Depot was generous enough to send me a set of red oak and white oak bokken to do a compare and contrast between the two. That has been a topic of discussion amongst bokken users for probably forever. Typically what you see are red oak “economy” models, with the white oak models ranging from anywhere as low as $40 dollars and as much as $300, depending on who is selling it to you and how it is made. In the past, I considered red oak models as “beaters” to thrash until they shatter, and an inexpensive option for beginning students to use until they decided to pull the trigger and go white oak.
I'm not going to go into the history and construction of bokken. I will however, detail my own use of the bokken, and the role that I think red oak and white oak models come into play. Later, I will detail my user review of the products I received from Karate Depot. At my dojo, we use the bokken to practice Aiki Ken, the kenjutsu art and primary expression of Aiki Budo, or Aikido. Aiki Ken works on several attributes: distance, angle and position, timing, extension, focus, and striking to vital areas. In even the most rigorous partner practice, there is very little contact with the bokken. This is because Aiki Ken expresses the taijutsu, or empty hand art of Aikido. In Aikido, we cannot clash directly with the power of an opponent. We have to move in a manner that either blends with the attack, redirects it, or forestalls the attack from the beginning. We don't block an attack, whether it be from a weapon or empty hand strike. So, we don't move directly against the opponent's sword. This is both ineffective and unrealistic. It is not effective since a real attack with a weapon is very fast, and you do not know how your enemy will attack you. If you wait and try to block, you will simply be a tempo behind in the encounter. Your opponent will already control the encounter. It is not realistic because in an actual encounter, you should not be blocking anything, but cutting an opponent. O'Sensei said “Seeing me before him, the enemy attacks, but by that time I am already standing safely behind him.” This means that you have already moved and cut him down from a safe position without blocking the strike.
This leads to me to concern about such comments as “...after a few sparring sessions, the bokken cracked.” I feel this sort of practice, banging bokken against bokken, can only be viewed as dubious play of young children, and not the serious sword practice of any classical Bujutsu or Budo. In one account, the famous Miyamoto Musashi defeated Muso Gonnosuke with a slender branch. The quality of body movement should be practiced to not be struck by a weapon or fist, not standing in one place and clashing against the force of another. Any tool, improperly used, will break. The shinken, or live blade, was never used in this manner. Parries were always deflecting and glancing motions. Really, this movements were attempts to cut at an enemy's vital points, and they appear to be parries due to variances in the timing of the enemy's response. No effort should be made in blocking any attack. Cutting the enemy down strongly is the what the sword is for. The Art of War states that shields are for enduring a hard time; weapons are for attaining victory. Musashi expounds on this when he says that anytime that you touch an opponent, it should be to kill them. He said that defensive moves like blocking are like putting swords in the ground around you to make a fence, and then standing behind them, believing yourself to be fortified. He says that the real essence of combat should be that were you standing near a wooden fence, you should pull a fence post from the ground and kill the enemy with it. So nowhere in these ideas does the idea of blocking an attack occur. With this in mind, red oak or white oak is not the issue, where as training to be able to cut down an enemy at will is the true concern.
I am going to give the bokken a full workout this week and tell you all about it. So far I am very happy with the product.

Great Boken
Great for practicing strikes and also just getting the feel for how a real sword weights and how it moves.

Great product, but not what I ordered
Ordered 2 of the bokkens recently. Karate Depot provided fast shipping and the products look great. I would give them four stars, but the product was not exactly what I ordered. One of the swords came in and was red oak (just as the order said). The other one which came in claimed to be red oak, but after looking at for just a minute it was clear it was mahogany. It is still a fine sword, just not what I ordered. I don't know if Karate Depot is the maker of the product or just the distributer, but they should check their products before selling them as something else.

Hmm, sorry about that boricua. If that bokken proves inferior please feel free to return it to us for an exchange or full refund.
We are the distributor of these products, and have to place a certain amount of trust in the manufacturers. If there are repeated problems with a manufacturer, we drop them from our product line.
If this kind of discrepancy continues, we will act upon it. Thank you for making us aware of the issue!

Nice strong beautiful wooden Bokken
I've made several of my own in the past, mostly for looks. This is the first one I bought and I am very pleased with it.
It is a bit heavier then a sword the same size but that is good to strengthen your muscles. The grip is constructed well and I really like that the hilt is removable. The only thing I didn't care for was the machine made feel/sand marks. But, I am picky as I make my own and I make them very smooth. But, for what its worth (a stick you hit other sticks with) it's AWESOME!

Strength
If used in a spar with another of my friends, how hard could we hit these bokken together? Or would they be quite weak? We won't be hitting full strength, but still.
Furthermore, would the cross guard hold up?

The tsuba (crossguard) would likely not hold up: it would definitely protect your hands from a glanced blow, but from my experience it would tilt at an odd angle and would have to be fixed (quite easy to do, though.)
I myself have not used it for heavy sparring, but from what I have done with it, I would think it safe to say that they would hold up well.

Gigantic let down
My friend bought two of these swords while we were working at a summer camp. Upon first inspection, one of them was a very nice, solid, red oak, while the other was a tattered brown, with many knots in the wood and what seemed to be a brown wood-like filler. The blade was very low quiality and broke right in half after about an hour of use. Its best use was in the bonfire though.

I actually bought two of these babies about a year and half ago now. The bokkens were so friggin' awesome - I kid you not. These two were some of the best I've seen. However, during heavy sparring sessions we dented them hard - nothing too horrible though. In the end, I ended up breaking mine into 3 pieces - even when broken it was still of use in sparring - oddly enough.. My buddy still has his - beautiful piece of work I still say. However, I broke mine after an endurance session by myself and hit several trees in a row - after the 17 tree - the last one of course - it splintered in two. Go figure ;D - great product, suffered through all of those hits at max force and lasted long.
Also - the shipping was kick ass - I STILL remember that bit even.. :) www.karatedopot.com still kicks ass.

I ordered a number of these for my students. We don't use them as bokken specifically, but because they have the general shape of a type of Chinese saber as well, we use them in form practice, for which they serve quite well. Therefore I can't speak to their durability in hard sword-to-sword contact. That said, the overall quality seems to be good, though as others have noted, the weight varies rather considerably from one unit to the next.

I have mixed feelings with these bokkens. Every one is weighted different. I have owned 5 and a friend also has one so I know they aren't weighted equally. It seems the heavier they are, the Bokkens last longer. I only have one left that hasn't been cracked. Some times you get a good one and others you don't. They have always lasted five half hour sessions at the very least. Two have lasted me over a year.

I purchased two of these Bokkens from Karate Depot mainly for decorative purposes. They were shipped to me fast and they arrived in perfect condition. I received one that looks more of a White Oak and one the appears more like a Red Oak. Both are made from solid wood and are quite heavy. They are a beautiful addition to my study. Thank you very much!

I've bought one of these sword before a it preformed well until it broke. This one hold up amazingly well not a blemish on after hours of hard strikes against a variety of other weapons. It is much heavier and more stout then the last one. I would love to buy another one to match so I can spar fairly. .

An Exellent Bokken
This Bokken is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is nice and heavy, cheap in price (definitely not in quality) made of great wood, and looks great. As a student of Shaolin Kung Fu I plan to buy more supplies from KarateDepot.com. This is a great bokken for the practice, demonstrations, sword-fighting, and just to have. Thanks so much KarateDepot.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best bokken for the price
As most everyone seems to have mentioned...there are better quality bokken out there, but none for anything close to this price. I bought three of these for kenjutsu kata. They handle well and can withstand numerous strikes without significant damage. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a good workout device, but don't hit people or breakable items with them. :-)

Easy To Use
The shipping and handling was expeditious, and I was very pleased with that. The bokken itself is durable and easy to handle. I would recommend this item for any beginners.

Its good
This bokken is good. It was kind of hard getting the white thing on but it worked out after a while and the weight is ok. It's pretty ok on durability.

kenshin
This was the closest thing I have held to an actual sword and I found it to be very realistic. It has improved the speed and accuracy of my swing. I'm not a practitioner of any sword style but take moves from any movie I've seen and gotten kind of good at swords thanks to this bokken!

nice sword
This is a great training sword, it's durable and light. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the hand guard slips up easily. Overall, great product.

Good weight and durable
I got 2 of these Hardwood Katanas (bokken) and they work very well. The Tsuba's were hard to put on and one of the bokken was lighter and broke faster then the other. But they are FANTASTIC for a practicing weapon and I highly recommend it. If you get a heavy one it will last VERY long. My heavy one is barely dented and its been more then a year plus I use it a lot. Thanks KARATEDEPOT.
I am now waiting on a Hardwood Bo I recently ordered.

AWESOME THE BEST BOKKEN EVER! ! ! !
I have tried many bokkens and shenais before. This is the best of them all. It is heavy and good for hard training. It has faired very well against my friends, sister, and my teacher. It has even stood up against my friends 40lbs. custom carved buster cleaver. This is a really good buy!!!

Excellent
Looking for a way to workout without weights? I bought 2 of these bokken, and I got a friend into it. We have only trained once with them, but we did a lot of hard hits. It gets a little dented up after a while, but its not very noticable. They give a great workout and I will definatly buy more of them in the future!

The bokken was nice to use for practice, but when it went through a real sparring match, the bokken broke in 2 places. I'm getting a new one, but this one would have to be padded up and used for more sparring, but padded. Its nice, but not impressive.

great craftsmanship, but dents easily
Well, first let me say that this is one excellent site. When I first got these swords, two days after the initial order (despite the fact that I got the crappy shipping) I was very pleased. The Tsuba was strong and sturdy, not to mention good looking, but shifts easily. The wood itself is a nice texture and color, but when used full contact against my ash bokken it was noticeably dented. This is the only reason I gave it a four out of five as apposed to a perfect score. Overall, this is an excellent bokken for anybody just starting out. When you need a heavy duty sword, you may need something a little bit stronger.

Quite the bokken
Anything positive i had to say about this bokken has already been said. It is a good, sturdy bokken that won't break easily. It does become hard to grip after practicing with it for a while...other than that, i'm quite pleased with it.

great sword
I was very happy getting this. Me and my friends love ninjitsu, so we took this bokken and an old mop handle and used that as a bo. it was broken in 5 pieces within 5 min, and the sword only had about 2 very small dents. this is great for beginners, and it has a very cheap cost

very good
Well I bought this bokken some time ago, but sad to say it is already broken. I am not saying it didn't last me some good time, I did, I used it a lot and got use to the weight. Now I'm on to heavier bokkens but overall it was a great by for the money.

Cheap thrills
Considering the price, this is a great deal. Plus, if you figure in how inexpensive the ground shipping is you can't really go wrong. The bokken is shipped stained and laquered in a medium reddish finish. You have to slide the tsuba and ring on yourself, but it's not rocket science. The quality is somewhat rough, but you're probably looking for something to actually hit something with. If you're looking to learn sword-work and are a beginner this is a good start.

Like the title said, well made for the money. Good size, weight and color. Insist on Century and not the house brand.

good item
This is a well made bokken but when you clash them they sound like there gonna break. They don't so that's the good thing about them. It's cheap so if your short on money you should get this. Its light wieght makes its good for training. I gave it for stars because it's reliable, it's taken hard hits an gotten out wit bairly a ding in it. I strongly recommend this.

Good Buy
I am novice to Japanese Martial Arts. I recently started practicing Aikido, and got this bokken to get a feel for Aikido weapon training beforehand. Feels great, looks sturdy, balance (I don't know how applicable balance is to a wooden sword) feels ok. To be honest, for this price I expected it to be worse. Would recommend to any Aikido practicioner.

Very Good Buy
Well, after the first day of practicing with the bokken (even though I have limited knowledge), I figured I'd post something here as a review. I was skeptical at first since the price was real cheap, but it wasn't a bad idea at all. The bokken is strong and sturdy, and should be unbreakable under normal circumstances. The hilt piece was hard to equip onto, and slides off a bit after heavy swings and fast swings. The weight isnt what i excepted it. i was thinking around a 3 - 4 pound sword but it was a surprisingly light 2.3 pounds, which felt lighter than the other swords i used to hold up in local shops. Overall, the sword is great to have around, the handle is about 10 1/2 inches, and the blade itself is 29 1/2 inches. Hopes that help clear up some issues on what is 40 inches, the blade or the whole peice.
Note - although 29 1/2 inches does not seem alot, it is actually pretty long when you hold the bokken in front of you.
Great Item At A Great Price - buy it if you want a good practice sword.

Worth the money
These swords are very good and durable, but some of them might not be equal in weight, or be as tough as the next. Over all, they're pretty good. I've gotten a few and they all are unequal in color, as well a being a few ounces diffrent. It just goes to show that every weapon (or practice one) is never created the same as the previous or next.
Over all, they are useful for training and they feel like real swords. I'm happy with them. If ya wanna whack at it or just let it sit, this is the way to go!

Heavy Hitter
This bokken is light in comparison to something like Japanese White Oak, so its not desirable for strength training. However, it can take a lot of abuse. A group of my friends and I have all bought this bokken (about 7 total). We spar with them, and many strikes are full force. Only one bokken has cracked when its owner struck a tree numerous times at full force. A very reliable practice weapon.

Inexpensive Training
I purchased this bokken in search of an inexpensive way to train with a sword. It's weight gives quite a strength workout, and it is quite handy for hand eye coordination. It is very durable and it shipped quickly at a low price.
The only thing that could be better is the cross guard. It's complicated and difficult to get on, but it's not necessary.
Overall, it was definitely a worthwile purchase, and I can see myself getting another one in the future.

could be better
the sword is a very useful thing, very solid and mine has taken a lot of abuse, including a number of battels with a mace that it took head on. very reliable and long living, the only things i would change are that the handle is hard to grip after practicing for long periods of time, so a grip of some sort. also the point of balance is kinda high.
