These are excellent tonfa. The ashwood and construction are top notch. The weight, balance, and overall feel are wonderful. Mine have proven to be invaluable in both solo practice and in contact training against bokken, sai, and staves. I would recommend them for experienced of beginning practitioners; anyone in need of a stout, efficient weapon.  

two perpendicular pieces of wood, and you get two of them. they're solid wood, hold up well and look good.   

The lightness makes them difficult to spin. I smacked one on a table and the end went flying. I have since purchased the square body red oak version and am quite happy with them. I haven't hit them on anything but I think they'll hold up. I give them 5 stars.  

Excellent craftsmanship and beautiful wood. Strong enough to spar and looks great at the tournaments.   

I have relatively large hands and that proved to be a problem. The handle was too thin and the handle pommel (tsukagashira) was also too thin, making it easy to loose and hard to have good control of.
Apart from this the only downside was the glossy finish of the Tonfa. other than the handle/grip itself its a good thing that makes it last longer, but for the handle, it makes it quite a lot harder to use than just wood by itself. Therefore, I sanded down the grip to get only the raw wood, which made it better. Still not as good as I hoped, but better.   

These tonfas blow any pair I've ever used out of the water. The way the handle is a fixed block rather than a cylinder ensures that it will never twist off like many cheap pairs on other sites. I have used this pair for months in boken and bo staff bouts and it withstands every blow it takes with little to no damage to the tonfa. Could not ask for a better pair!

Nice surface finish and assembly. One feature I think is very good for beginners is the special shape of the handles that make it easy to hold in the right position when swinging. The weight is not heavy at all. So if you're a beginner, you might like to first practice with some heavier ones, once you're familiar with the basic tonfa moves, you can change to this light weight tonfa for sparring, demo, performance or whatever.
