Worked Great

These boards were a bit sticky with sap when they arrived but are perfect for my adults. And the half inch boards are perfect for my little ninjas. Permalink

Not a Single Piece

Though the wood is a little bit harder than wood used at competitions this is not a solid single piece of wood. It was actually five pieces glued together. On some of the pieces the glue was oozing between the seems. These can not be used in many competitions but are fine for practicing at home.

great for kids! Although they break pretty easy you still need to apply a proper amount of force. really great for building confidence in kids, I use for ages ten years and up.

Weaker than expected...

Of the 12 I bought, only 3 were sturdy enough to be broken with decent challenge... Can't say I'd recommend these....

curing breaking boards

I was told you can bake these boards in the oven so they'll become more brittle which makes it easier to break. Can someone tell the proper way to "Bake" these boards?

If you have very green boards that need some moisture removed, consider baking them at about 250 degrees for 8 hours.

keep a close eye on them though, you don't want any incidences.

Also please keep in mind that practitioners and tournament directors could consider this cheating by compromising the integrity of the wood.

Good board for building confidence

Good Board it requires just a bit more force than my students imagine and thus helps them feel more of an accomlishment when they break it. Shiping was OK and as usual for KD products the price is the best i've found yet.

Shipping price to my FPO address as $79.95 for 5 packs of wood. A little high I would say even for Priority mail. Cost twice as much for shipping than for the boards. The web site also did not give me a choice. I selected free (slow) shipping but the site process the order as priority anyway. Not very happy but I still like the company.
